Lauryn Pleads Guilty in Tax Case

Lauryn Hill just pled guilty to a major federal crime ... admitting she intentionally failed to file several tax returns in the past decade -- and now the former Fugees singer faces 3 years in prison.

Hill pled guilty today to three counts of failure to file tax returns for the years 2005, 2006, and 2007 -- when she earned more than $1.8 million.

When the judge asked if Hill "intentionally and willingly" failed to file the returns, she replied, "Yes."

In addition to the 3 years behind bars, Hill could be smacked with $75,000 in fines.

Hill was released on $150,000 bail. Her sentencing hearing is set for November.

Gotta be. And hopefully for her sake a very favorable one. Otherwise there ain't not logic to her going dropping her draws like THAT to the Feds.

My guess is a very sudden stiff breeze is blowing amongst many of Lauren's peers in the entertainment biz right now...

My guess is with her confession they will make her do only a few months, six months tops. Her fessing up sends a pretty strong enough message that Uncle Sam ain't playing with foks.

I don't know....at this point it may be too late to work out a deal or payment arrangement.  The feds don't play.  Bad idea to not file taxes as some kind of social or political  "statement".

She should have worked out a deal with the IRS like Willie Nelson did back in the day. He toured around the world for about six months to a year and paid off all of the money he owed.
