Star Claims Anderson Came Out for Ratings

Was it a coincidence that Anderson Cooper came out of the closet just as news was breaking that CNN’s ratings were at a 20 year low? And that ratings for his show have plummeted? It could be just a matter of timing, but Star Jones doesn’t think so. She believes that Anderson Cooper is using his sexuality as a way to deflect away from the poor ratings for his show, AC 360. Jones believes that Cooper used his sexuality as a way to generate interest in him, and drum up ratings:

Star works on the Today in a weekly segment called Today's Professionals. They discuss topics of the day. He was a topic. I don't think she is wrong. I have watched daytime TV  long enough to know hosts will tell you anything for sweeps. I mean look at Oprah big reveal about her "half sister".  July is sweeps months and Anderson being gay is the worst kept secret in America. He also has low ratings. Star did it with her wedding. I saw the segment and she said "He's a daytime talk show host and when the rating slip in daytime, the hosts tend to tell you lots of things about them.' She went on to say that Oprah Winfrey had made announcements about her past in what Jones called a similar effort to attract viewers.'I remember Oprah said she smoked crack, Oprah said she was pregnant at 14 and considered suicide,' Jones said. 'There [are] times when you generate information for ratings.' Star being in daytime TV for 9 years tells me she is telling the truth, however she could have made her point far more diplomatically.

I like Star, but she's got more important things to worry about like that weight she's gaining back.  If she's not careful, she'll be looking like she did, pre-gastric bypass.   

Hmmm, I read somewhere that the recurrance rate for weight gain within a few years post surgery is like 50-60% or maybe even higher.  No bueno
