Two weeks after announcing his possible departure from hip-hop following a Twitter dispute with up-and-coming rapper Chief Keef, Lupe Fiasco has once again come under public scrutiny. This time from comedian D.L. Hughley.

During a recent radio interview with Hartford, Conn. radio station Hot 93.7, the “King Of Comedy” took aim at the Chicago MC’s reluctance to vote.

“They want to raise the age of social security from 65 to 68… Black men die at 67. Lupe Fiasco forgets that he’s going to be an old man when he’s looking for a social security check, and he dies right before he gets it,” Hughley stated.

“Young black men are going to listen to him, and they are the ones who have decisions made for them, decisions that they are not even involved in, which is silly to me,” he added. “There are more black men in prison then there were ever slaves. And it’s silly to me that people don’t want to have a hand in their future.”

Although Fiasco is often known for his socially conscious music and thought provoking rhymes, Hughley simply summed it as; “You can be bright as hell, but be dumb in the weight of the world. Obviously he hasn’t had life experiences yet.”

Lupe Fiasco Says His Voting Won’t Impact Presidential Election And Calls Out Comedian D.L. Hughley

Lupe FiascoLupe Fiasco is apparently fed up with media personalities criticizing his political views and took to Twitter after comedian D.L. Hughley told Hot 93.7 that the rapper’s vocal lack of support for Obama could impact the election. Fiasco isn’t convinced that anything he says will seriously hamper Obama’s re-election bid, and added that he’s only offered his opinion because he keeps getting asked.

According to Fiasco, hip hop has little impact on the outcome of the election. “Obama need swing states and white people not radical rappers kissing his ass to win this election,” Lupe wrote.

Before replying to Hughley’s comments directly, Fiasco explained that he was perfectly happy keeping his views to himself but others with the public ear keep on mentioning his position on politics. “If y’all stop bringing it to me I won’t answer and y’all can be happy with y’all way of thinking and I can be happy with mine.. #LeeMeAlone,” wrote Lupe.

Fiasco then called out Hughley suggesting that they both put their money where their mouth is to effect positive change rather than focus on their political differences. “Better yet @RealDLHughley you put up 50k and I’ll put up 50k and let’s flesh out some programs for rural & inner city youths our damn selves. And we aint got to wait till November or be part of a party to do that…what u think brother? Fuck all this talk let’s get it in my nigga.. When you ready to drop that bread for these babies out here @RealDlHughley holla at me…til then #LeeMeAlone,” wrote Lupe.
